Business and Appointments

  • What are your hours?  I am often flexible with timing.  If you would like to schedule for times outside of what is listed below, please do not hesitate to ask, though I may not be able to cater to every request.

                           Monday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

                           Tuesday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

                      Wednesday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

                         Thursday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

                              Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

  • Is there parking at your office?  Yes, there is a small parking lot right outside our building, and there is also street parking available.  Please note: the street is a one-way street.

  • I am interested in your services; can I stop by your office sometime to meet you to see if we are a good fit? I look forward to meeting you; calling ahead of time would ensure that I am available.

  • Can I book in advance? Yes, I suggest you book out as far ahead as you can.  You can always reschedule as the day gets closer, but this way, it saves an appointment slot for you.

  • Do I have to fill out paperwork?  Yes – there are multiple forms you need to review, fill out and return to me.  You can download and print them from my website to fill out and bring with you to your first appointment (preferred), or you can arrive 10-15 minutes early and fill out the paperwork at my office.

  • Should I eat before my appointment?  It is recommended you have a light meal before your treatment.  Receiving treatments on an empty stomach may cause feelings of nausea or lightheadedness, while being treated on a full stomach may cause discomfort and feelings of fatigue.

  • What if I am late to my appointment?  I will treat you if you show up late to your appointment.  However, I will charge you full price, and will not extend past the scheduled appointment time.  For example, if you show up 20 minutes late to a follow-up, I will charge you full price for a shortened treatment.  If you show up late to the initial treatment, it is possible you will not receive a treatment in that time, as we have a lot to cover with reviewing your health history questionnaire.

  • I have been receiving cosmetic treatments and now want to switch to acupuncture treatments, what will I have to pay?  You do not have to pay the initial intake fee, you can just pay for the follow-up treatments.

  • I have been receiving acupuncture treatments, and are now interested in cosmetic, what will I have to pay?  Even though you have already been receiving acupuncture, you will still need to pay the intake price specifically for cosmetic acupuncture.

  • Can I share packages?  No, packages are non-transferable and cannot be shared.

About Acupuncture

  • How does acupuncture work?  According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture helps to promote the body to heal itself by manipulation of certain points on the body using needles and/or other modalities (e.g. cupping, gua sha, etc.) This promotes proper flow of qi, or energy, in the right direction, and to eliminate stagnation or obstructions of qi in the meridians.

  • How is cosmetic acupuncture different from acupuncture?  While cosmetic, or facial, acupuncture involves a more focused treatment on the face, neck and scalp, the theory behind the treatments are the same.  We are always treating the root of the problem, as well as the manifestation and symptoms.  We use facial diagnosis to confirm the findings determined based upon our diagnosis.  Diagnosis includes, but is not limited to:  health history intake, checking tongue and pulse and observation.

  • How can cosmetic acupuncture get rid of my wrinkles and give me a face lift?  The insertion of needles into the face creates micro-traumas under the skin, which causes the production of collagen.  With the proper amount of treatments, there can be reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Acupuncture can help naturally tighten, tone and lift sagging muscles and skin, while reducing puffiness and bloating around the face.

  • What does cosmetic acupuncture treat?  Cosmetic acupuncture can help to treat a number of things: premature signs of aging (e.g. wrinkles), acne, dermatitis, eczema, rosacea, scarring, discoloration, puffiness, dark circles, and many more.

  • What do you treat besides cosmetic? While I specialize in cosmetic and facial acupuncture, I also treat women’s health, anxiety, stress, boost energy, promote sleep, improve digestion and much more.

  • Does it hurt? You will not feel the majority of the needles.  Generally speaking, some of the points (especially on the hands, feet, face and scalp) may cause a slight pinch or uncomfortable sensation with the initial insertion, but will subside after a few seconds.  During the treatment, it is not uncommon to have sensations of: tingling, itching, numbness, heaviness in the area.  The only sensation we do not want to have is a burning or sharp sensation.

  • Do I have to wear anything special?  Wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes allows easy access of all areas of the body. I will have sheets to cover your body should we need to remove any clothing to access additional areas.  If you are coming in for cosmetic acupuncture, I ask that you do not wear makeup to your appointment.  I will have wipes available if you need to remove makeup before your appointment.

  • What happens on my first visit? Follow-ups?  During the first visit, we review your entire health history intake in depth, and spend 15-20 minutes in conversation. You will receive a treatment for the remaining time.  Follow-up treatments have a very brief conversation allowing us to track process, and allow for longer treatments.

  • How many treatments will I need?  After your initial visit, we will come up with a plan that is specific to you.  The progress is different for everyone.  Cosmetic acupuncture typically requires weekly treatments in the beginning for the first 8-12 weeks, depending on the person, and then requires maintenance follow-up treatments as directed by practitioner.

  • How many needles do you use?  Do you reuse the needles?  The quantity of needles depends on the person being treated, the condition being treated and the constitution of the person; among other variables.  I only use sterile, disposable needles.

Payment and Billing

  • Do you have any discounted rates?  I always offer $15 off the first follow-up for all new patients if you mention the code “SaveMe15” at time of booking.

  • What is your cancellation policy?  As a courtesy, please give as much notice as possible when needing to cancel or reschedule visits so that appointment times will be available for scheduling of other patients.  If you do not give one full business day's notice, you will be charged 50% of the scheduled treatment fee.  If you no show, you will be charged 75% of appointment fee.  If you are a first-time patient, I will ask for a valid credit card number over the phone at time of booking.

  • Why do you need to hold my credit card number on file?  The scheduling and billing system I use requires the input of a credit card with the input of a new patient.

  • Do you accept insurance?  No, not at this time.  I would be happy to provide documentation of your visits so you can submit for reimbursement, if your insurance company allows.

  • What types of payment do you accept?  Cash, check, credit, debit and payments by Venmo.

  • Do you have gift certificates available?  Yes – they are valid on both services and products.  They are valid for 12 months.

  • Why is cosmetic acupuncture more expensive than acupuncture?  I always use top of the line needles, especially for delicate areas, such as the face, and for cosmetic purposes.  These needles are more expensive and I order them from the UK where they are made.  During the appointment, I typically stay in the room with you the whole time, inserting many needles, and then working with adjuncts to help achieve the results we desire.  With acupuncture appointments, I typically insert needles and then let you rest while I leave the room.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions.
